21ST ISHPES CONGRESS 2020 – CALL FOR PAPERS

SPORT HISTORY AND INTERDISCIPLINARY RELATIONS IN THE YEAR OF THE TOKYO GAMES 2020

Host: Hokkaido University

The Conference begins on Thursday, August 20. The social event is held on Saturday, August 22 and the final banquet also held in the evening on Sunday, August 23. The time slot of Young scholars’ social night is planned on Saturday, August 22. An optional tour is planned on Monday, August 24.

CONGRESS TOPIC AND SUBTOPICS

For the ISHPES Congress Sapporo 2020 scholars are invited to submit proposals for sessions which include three papers and abstracts related to the main topic “Sport History and Interdisciplinary Relations in the Year of the Tokyo Games 2020” or individual abstracts on a subtopic. Each author can only submit one abstract. The oral presentations will each be 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for discussion.

– The legacy of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games
– Mega-events in sports
– Media, journalism and sports
– Sports and disability
– Gender diversity in physical culture and sport
– Literature, film, philosophy and sport
– Role of economics in sport
– Relations of power, class, politics, diplomacy in sport
– History of physical education and teaching methodologies
– History of martial arts
– Indigeneity and sport /ethnicity and sport
– Medical history in sport and physical activity
– Open papers

Deadlines
– Abstract submission opening: December 15, 2019
– Abstract submission closing: February 15, 2020
– Authors to be notified: The end of March 2020
